Jobs in Southern Maryland
Southern Maryland has a unique combination of agricultural expertise, technical savvy, and biodiversity that positions us to become a center of practical innovation for the East Coast. Well-planned policies will strengthen our agricultural roots, attract new business, and provide high-paying opportunities for all.
Need help now?
As District 29’s State Senator, Chuck will develop Maryland policies to support our quality of life now and for the future. As an innovator, he is committed to building tools that connect residents to services they can use right now. The Gas Station Problem
Southern Maryland leadership lacks imagination. You can see this in the business development they support: gas stations, hotels, gas stations, car dealerships, engineering at Pax River NAS, and gas stations. Chuck wants to invest in future technologies and innovation while protecting the natural resources of our area. He will prioritize jobs that provide dignity, stability, and opportunities for personal growth (the kind of jobs we want for our children!) rather than promoting the status quo to line the pockets of the rich.
Broadening Current Tech
Much of our area’s growth comes from supporting the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The base brings important industries to our area, but it’s also a single point of failure. Chuck will look for opportunities to incentivize ‘defense adjacent,’ multiple-use innovation: for example, drones can be manufactured and sold to defense agencies and to commercial companies. This can strengthen our current economic base and keep people employed in SOMD, independent of the federal government.
Agricultural Growth
Southern Maryland farmers are one of the backbones of our state’s economy. Chuck plans to champion Right to Repair laws in Maryland, and he wants to simplify nutrient management plan compliance through better technology. By investing in food processing facilities, farm equipment repair, and research partnerships with Maryland universities, we can encourage job growth in this important area and open new career fields for SOMD residents.
Innovation
In today’s world of constant development, we should be investing in new technology that addresses tomorrow’s needs. Renewable energy development, such as solar, strengthens American industries by reducing our reliance on energy sources from overseas. Our children will need more facilities to repair electric vehicles, more bicycle and scooter accessible roads, and more investment in public transportation. All of these areas can become high-paying careers that look to the future. Chuck wants to pursue legislation that helps Southern Maryland become a leader in these areas.
